How To: Give a Caregiver View-Only Access

Sometimes the right person to see some of your contacts isn't a parent — it's the babysitter who needs the pediatrician's number, or the grandparent watching the kids this weekend. Viewer access gives them a read-only window into exactly the contacts you choose, without making them a household manager.

What a viewer can see

Viewers see base contact information — names, phone numbers, emails, addresses — for the contacts and lists you grant them. You set the scope: it might be your emergency list plus the sitter-relevant contacts, or a broader slice of the household. They see what you've granted, and nothing else.

And within what you grant, viewers never see:

  • Your household's private notes on a contact
  • Contact history
  • Medical and allergy details

This isn't a setting you have to remember to turn on — those fields are simply never part of what a viewer account can access.

Before you start

  • Viewer access is part of the paid plan. A paid household can have up to three viewers.
  • A viewer needs their own email address to accept the invitation — like every KeeperCircle member, they get their own login.

Step 1: Invite the caregiver

  1. Open your household's member settings.
  2. Add a member and choose the Viewer role.
  3. Enter their email and send the invitation.

Step 2: Choose what they can see

Grant the viewer the lists or contacts they should have — for a sitter, that's often just the emergency list and a handful of family contacts. You can adjust the grants any time as the arrangement changes.

Step 3: They accept and sign in

The caregiver follows the emailed link, creates their login, and lands in your household seeing only what you granted. They can look up and use that contact info — call the pediatrician, find a neighbor's address — but they can't add, change, share, or export anything.

Step 4: Remove access when it's no longer needed

When the arrangement ends — the sitter moves on, summer's over — remove the viewer from member settings. Access ends immediately.

Good to know

  • A viewer granted the emergency list sees it as a live, always-current list view. The printable emergency sheet itself stays with parents and guardians — see How To: Create and Print an Emergency Contact Sheet.
  • A viewer slot is a good fit for regular caregivers who need ongoing access. For a one-time occasion, a printed emergency sheet may be all you need.
  • You can see your household's current members and their roles at any time in member settings.
